Happy New Year everyone!  After a rough fall season,  weather-wise, Stone Harbor still looked very festive during this Holiday season.  After only a few weeks of brutal cold weather, I’m sure everyone is looking forward to the return of summer! I would like to thank our retiring Trustees for their years of service: Karen Lane, Peter Svanda, Bill Dougherty, Lou Schweickhardt, Alan Kaplan, and especially Larry Kratzer, our past president.  We also welcome new Trustees: Fran Burns, Betty Carusi, Bill Lehr, Jack Leisenring, and Sherry Tomlinson.

With the publication of this newsletter, our 2009 membership drive begins. The board of Trustees has set a membership goal for 2009 of 1500 members. Currently, there are 1025 members. Hopefully, you will join the ROA for 2009. The ROA has been an advocate for the residents with committees focusing on Borough Affairs, Beach and Bay, Community Beautification and Civic Improvement. The trustees are looking at different ways to provide you with more timely information while reducing costs. One of these ways is to use the ROA website’s capabilities and email to stay in contact with the members.

The summer months are rapidly drawing to a close. We all look forward to Memorial Day Weekend as the beginning of summer and after this weekend passes by, the rest of summer seems to speed by all of us.

From what I have observed, the season seems to be treating the Borough and all of its components well. There have been many visitors contributing to the well being of the town. Several new items such as the bike lane, the bird sanctuary, and the weekly farmers’ market have been well used and attended.
In keeping with the ROA’s purpose, the Board of Trustees is attempting to bring to you, the members, more timely information. Peter Svanda, one of the trustees, has been working with a web designer to upgrade the ROA website to make it more interactive and easier to use for all.
