Borough Council Meeting Notes for February 2, 2010

PRELIMINARIES: Call to Order, Roll Call, Public Meeting Announcement, Salute to the Flag, Communications. Note: Mrs. Vaul was not present

PRESENTATION:  Mr. William Diller made a $5000 contribution to Mrs. Nancy Cope of the Stone Harbor Museum to help preserve documents of the history of Stone Harbor.

 PUBLIC HEARING:

Mr. Charles Koch questioned the rationale of accepting a deuce and a half truck for municipal use with a stipulation that it could be used in an emergency for forest fires. He asked what the costs are for the truck. The response to Mr. Koch was that the truck would be painted. Mr. Koch asked if this truck would be used to fight fires and, if we respond, who pays the firefighters? The reply was that it is possible firefighters would be paid a stipend. Another question was, “Do we need this fire truck?” Responses supported the decision, such as the vehicle could maneuver through high water and is more capable for the beach.  Mr. Koch concluded his remarks saying he was against anything that will cost us more money and particularly without any advance notice.
