Committees & Projects

Beach and Bay Represents the ROA and researches information on any issues relating to the beach and bay locally, as well as regional and state issues that may affect Stone Harbor such as dunes, dredging, fishing, inlets, sand replenishment, pollution, flooding, marina, and other water front issues and development.
Borough Affairs Responsible for representing the membership at each Borough meeting including: Council, Zoning, Planning, as well as School Board, and other special meetings called to discuss issues relative to the Borough. Actions at these meetings are reported to the membership by email and our website.

Civic Improvement/Beautification Responsible for coordinating projects relating to the overall aesthetics of the Borough, addressing member questions concerning quality of life and growth in Stone Harbor, working as liaisons with municipal government to ask pertinent questions and communicating that information to members, as well as making suggestions for improvements or new programs. This committee also coordinates the ROA’s participation in projects and activities with such organizations as the Garden Club, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, and Shade Tree Committee.

Communications Responsible for communicating to the ROA membership, the Stone Harbor Community, and regionally, as appropriate, through newsletters, e-mail, private and public media, and the ROA website. This committee manages the ROA website and conducts member surveys on topical issues.

Executive Comprised of the four Officers. The primary role is to provide guidance to all committees according to the core mission of the ROA. They give short and long-term strategic direction and ensure that ROA is executing all duties in an appropriate manner. This Committee, or its individual officers, represents the ROA at key functions related to the Borough or its affiliations/associations.

Finance & Administration Focuses on all financial and accounting matters related to revenue and expenditure transactions. Adhering to sound accounting principles, the committee manages and reports on all budgetary items to the Trustees at large. It also engages in periodic audit procedures and ensures all appropriate insurances are in place to mitigate any risks to the mission of the ROA and its Trustees.

Membership Works to obtain new members utilizing a variety of communication medium, including personal contact and presence at community events.

Nominating Elected from the Trustees and responsible for soliciting nominations for officers positions that will be open in September and Trustee positions that need to be filled.

Shared Services Interfaces with AHLOA to maintain open communications between Avalon and Stone Harbor concerning issues that affect property owners in both towns. A member of this committee attends meetings of COCA (Coalitions of Civic Associations in Cape May County), and other county meetings as appropriate.

Special Events Organizes and oversees the ROA’s participation in various community events, and plans and manages special events of the Trustees and membership, as appropriate.
Centennial (2011-2014) The ROA’s contribution to the Centennial will be the designing, collecting of information, writing, and publishing of Stone Harbor’s 100th Anniversary book.
