 COMMITTEE REPORTS

Safety- report by Fire Chief Stanford on inspections of rental units. So far 26 have failed due to an absence of a fire extinguisher. Councilman Bauer asked about legislation that exempted seasonal rentals from having a fire extinguisher. The chief responded that the legislation was not applicable to Stone Harbor. Mr. Bauer argued that state fire officials did not want to encourage renters to fight a fire in a rental unit. This logic seemed to have prompted this legislation. Mr. Bauer continued by asking if having a fire extinguisher gave a renter a sense of safety.
